JC Steel High Altitude Shootout

The JC Steel High Altitude Shootout as part of the Precision Rifle Series could not have been more spectacular. Put on by my friend and coach, Jake Vibbert. The match was situated in breathtaking Telluride Colorado affording the opportunity for touristy nightlife prior to and after the match which made the venue fun for the entire family.

Jake puts on an outstanding match with great stages that really challenge each shooters ability. Day 1, I shot my 50% hit average, however on day 2, I shot most of my stages with 80% impacts excluding two long stages that I got whipped by the wind. My Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in 6mm Creedmoor topped with the Nightforce ATACR and MIL C reticle all functioned flawlessly with my 108 Grain Hornady ELD Match.

My big take-away is that I am too slow setting up and locating targets which is causing me to time out before my stages are complete which leaves me room for improvement. My squad could not have been more amazing or helpful. In a short amount of time, I have made tremendous progress with my skill level and am looking forward to progressively climbing the ladder of shooting success.
