SCI Foundation is committed to reducing Human-Wildlife Conflicts around the world. In Wyoming, the chances of running into a Grizzly Bear are pretty high today. Encounters can be deadly (for bears and for humans), especially when people aren’t aware of how to act in bear country. One of several commitments SCI Foundation has with the increasing bear populations is helping to reduce grizzly bear attacks in the field.
SCI Foundation partnered with Wyoming Game and Fish Department to help supply over 700 cans of bear spray in 2023 that are distributed throughout the state, along with the SCI Foundation Robo Bear where participants get the chance to learn how quickly a bear can approach, how accessible spray needs to be, and how to appropriately deploy their bear spray.
Other partners include: American Bear Foundation, Campfire Conservation Fund, U.S. Forest Service, Kristy Titus, and Silverline Films.
