SCIF PLAYS SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN REOPENING BLACK BEAR HUNTING IN FLORIDA

The SCI Foundation has played a significant role in supporting the potential reopening of the black bear hunting season in Florida. The foundation has been instrumental in advocating for regulated bear hunting as a necessary tool for managing bear populations and reducing human-bear conflicts. In Louisiana, the SCI Foundation supported the approval of the first black bear hunting season in 40 years, and similar efforts are being made in Florida.

The foundation emphasizes that hunting is a critical component of wildlife management and responsible conservation, helping to keep bear populations within sustainable levels. Additionally, the SCI Foundation supports the use of science to establish suitable quotas and create effective management plans for bear hunting.
