Having served my local High Desert Chapter of SCI for nearly 10 years on the board of directors, as Vice President and finally as President, the annual convention is always a great time to visit old friends and of course make some new ones.
The SCI convention has some of the finest exhibitor s but for me I am always left in awe of the taxidermy showcased throughout the convention center. Each individual work of art telling a tales of far off lands, places that many of us only dream to one day visit. No matter how many times you have attended the SCI convention, you are sure to find something that makes you yearn to visit at least one of the six continents represented, each offering the hunter a unique thrill of the chase.
The great thing about the convention is that there is so much to do and see, the bad thing for me was that I only had two days to spend there. Oh where does one start with so much to do and so little time?!?
Cabela’s Outdoor Adventures, the place where you can book your dream into a reality.
Oh yes, the world famous gun library that was on display at the Cabela’s booth was a unique opportunity to put my hands on some of the finest firearms in the world. Needless to say, I walked away from the booth with a much lighter wallet.
While at the Cabela’s booth, I hung out with event attendees, signed posters and took pictures. Olympic Medalist in Trapshooting Corey Cogdell signed posters along with me. It is awesome checking out a real Olympic medal.
It is always fun getting to talk about hunting with so many different people from around the world. I am looking forward to the 2014 SCI convention.
