Training Day with 3x World Champion JJ Racaza
February 11, 2017Bobcats and Breakdowns
February 11, 2017As part 2 of my trip to Sin City training, my friends Melinda, her husband Jason, myself, my cousin Ben, and Rei all gathered just outside the city to train with Rei’s fiance’ Tyler Hughes. This was my second time training with this crew of accomplished shooters but let me refresh you all to Tyler’s notable career as a professional shooter and instructor-
Tyler served most notably as Scout Sniper Team Leader, Scout Sniper Platoon Sergeant. Some of his training includes but not limited to Reconnaissance, Close Quarters Battle Security Instructor, Scout Sniper Basic with Honors, Scout Sniper Team Leader Top Shooter Award, Urban Sniper, Mountain Sniper, and Advanced Sniper. He is one of the very few that have completed ALL Scout Sniper Courses and Schools.
Wow what a resume and all around great guy. Our goals for the two days of training was a crash course in competition dynamics. For two days, we trained to locate, range estimate and engage targets under a time constraint and round count limitation.
We trained as individuals and also in teams. I teamed up with my cousin Ben to train as if we were in a live competition. Working together developing a competitive strategy and of course ringing as much steel as possible.
We all left the course more prepared for future rifle competitions.
