April 9, 2024Okay, let’s be real here, do you lack energy in day-to-day life? When you look in the mirror or try to zip up your jeans, how do you feel? During each month, do you buy what you want, do what you want, and eat what you want without thought?
If you stay on your current path, what do you see for your future self?
Take a moment and really think this through. Based on your habits, do you see yourself becoming healthier or gaining more weight, losing muscle mass, and developing chronic illness that may be preventable with a few simple lifestyle changes?
I am only asking this to you because this is what I have been asking myself for the past 12 months. SERIOUSLY.
Next, I want you to take a moment to dream. What do you want your future physical self to feel and look like? Visualizing your future life will make the discipline and sacrifice that is necessary today to achieve your dream much easier.

Living with both discipline and intention will lead you down a path that allows you to live your future life as you have imagined it in your dream today.
Aristotle once said, “Excellence is never an accident. It is the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution. It represents the wisest option among many alternatives. Choice, not chance, determines your destiny, dreams, and values.
Perhaps, it is time to clean up the mess, and start running your life instead of letting life run you. Getting and staying healthy takes discipline and intentionality.

- Get on a plan with exercise based on achievable boundaries that you can live within. If you are like me and over 40, then focus, focus, focus on strength training! - Dining out is one of the most expensive hobbies in America and is attributed to both financial and physical bloat. Food is one of the easiest items to overindulge in. Learning how to meal plan and prep will not only save you calories it will also save you money. Dining at home will help you not only save money but when you prepare your own food at home, it will help you control what you are consuming and how your food is prepared. When traveling, make snacks ahead of time, like my no-bake protein balls.
- Say NO to alcohol. The calories consumed in alcohol are not benefitting your fitness goals. When you eat a meal with carbohydrates AND drink a glass of wine or two, then you really compound your sugar intake. If you are a regular wine or alcohol drinker, you will feel and see near immediate results in water weight loss, increased energy, and you will LOVE not having hangovers! Alcohol is a depressant and if you feel like you “need” to drink to sleep, try getting in an extra workout. Work yourself so hard that you can’t help but fall asleep at night if you must. 4. Wake up early, go to bed early. Have a plan, make a schedule, and stick to it. Put your phone down and stop wasting precious time on social media. A good workout only takes 45 minutes to an hour. Adding an extra hour to your morning is the ticket to having that hour to fit in your workout. Plus, summertime is coming, and it is so much nicer to workout in the nice cool mornings instead of waiting for the blistering afternoon heat.

- Mindset is everything and how you present yourself has a huge impact on mindset, behavior and ultimately your success. Develop the habit of showing up and staying on track. To make things easier for yourself, be sure to spend plenty of time focusing on gratitude in the process. What do have today that you used to wish for? Keep grinding. Day by day, etch those keystone habits a little deeper within your life knowing that it is not always comfortable, but it is always worth it.
Soon you are going to wake up and find yourself physically and mentally fitter because you chose to go towards something of value.
