RMEF Indiana Chapter 25th Anniversary

Volunteers have made the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation one of the most successful wildlife conservation organizations in the world by committing their time, talents and energy to the RMEF’s mission to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage. In 1984, Bob Munson and Charlie Decker were two of the original founders of RMEF. Them along side Jim and Leann Craig are some of the first crusaders of conservation as the founders of the Indiana RMEF chapter 25 years ago and in 2015 won RMEF’s conservationist of the year. 

The conservationist of the year award is designed to honor an individual or group who has contributed in a substantial way or had significant impact in the areas of land protection and/or stewardship, wildlife management, elk management, hunting heritage, hunter access or other RMEF mission priority areas. 

The great state of Indiana does not have resident elk populations but the state shows strong support for wild places and the RMEF. The Craigs have even created the Craig Family Camp- a place where the outdoors and families come together. The Craig family is of generous heart creating the camp that is free to attendees and a place where friends and families have the opportunity to learn, grow and create memories. 

It is with many thanks to the entire Craig family- Jim, Leann and Jack, for being such strong stewards in conservation with the RMEF and the Craig Family Camp creating tremendous community outreach. To the volunteers in Indiana that generously donate their time, effort and energy to the RMEF.

Like other RMEF Chapters, Indiana is a grassroots effort to ensuring the continuation of our time honored hunting, outdoors and shooting sports traditions. It was truly an honor to attend the 25th Anniversary Celebration of your chapter with Bob & Vicki Munson and Charlie & Yvonne.  The over 300 attendees are doing their part to help the RMEF in its continuing conservation efforts.
